Oh yes it does! Britannia Fire, the UK’s leading manufacturer of fire extinguishers, based in Ashwellthorpe, has stepped into the spotlight by donating a top-of-the-range composite P50 fire extinguisher to Horning Amateur Theatre Society (HATS) for their pantomime, Snow White and the Timber Troopers.
The annual pantomime, which is delighting audiences this week at Horning Village Hall, is a much-loved local tradition, involving more than 50 performers aged from just five to a grand 82. With an audience of up to 150 people per performance, it’s a show that proves the magic of panto really is for everyone.
This year’s production is bigger, brighter and more exuberant than ever, with an impressive collection of homemade sets, curtains, props and eye-catching costumes. Keen to ensure that the only thing heating up is the applause (and not the scenery!), the organisers welcomed an extra fire extinguisher, donated free of charge by Britannia Fire, to help keep cast and audience safe.

And with a 20 year life-span, I’ll be 88 by the time we need a new one – now that really is a long run!”
Robin Baines
Robin Baines, who plays King Cedric in the show, has been involved with running the society for 30 years. He comments:
“We’re so excited about this year’s pantomime and have put a lot of time and effort into creating a fantastic show for everyone to enjoy! At the same time, we’re keen to ensure everyone stays safe and are taking our responsibilities seriously. Britannia Fire have been incredibly generous in donating the extinguisher and showing us how to use it. And with a 20 year life-span, I’ll be 88 by the time we need a new one – now that really is a long run!”
Laura Hutt, Operations Manager from Britannia Fire, comments:
“We’re always happy to support our local community and were delighted to donate a P50 to HATS. They have been entertaining the people of Horning and beyond for many years, while also raising significant funds for local charities. We wish the cast and crew all the best for the performances!”
Over the last 20 years, the pantomime has raised around £20,000 for local charities. This year, the nominated charities are East Anglia Children’s Hospice (EACH) and a Medical Dogs charity.
